Ah Deepak Chopra! Self interest will diminish once you know you can have it all. When you know that fulfillment is possible, you will think less about your personal needs and more about the needs of the rest of the world.
Is he really saying once you can put aside Ego, and are not creating worries for yourself, you understand the connection you have will all the rest of life, and want to do your part?
