Which do you want to be?

At first there were two side by side pretty much identical plants beginning a new circle of life. First came two leaves at the bottom and each passing hour you could see the development that really is a miracle of nature, except since we have been able to figure it out enough to believe we understand why it happens, we no longer consider it a miracle. We feel it is just the way it is, because of how nature operates.

Over the next week as new leaves were now all over the great gift mother earth has given, a small bud is developing. Such a spectacle to see as you almost can’t wait to see how beautiful it will become, yet that is when something strange appears to happen. The ground is the same for both, and the earth below is no different, but for some reason one plants' bud is opening much faster than the other.

You see one of the plants can’t wait for the flower to open its pedals to be able to soak in and feel all of the sun, stretching wide for all the rest of nature to take notice and see all the beauty while feeling how beautiful life can be at the same time. Each day as the sun starts out; it is almost as if the pedals are reaching as far apart as they can when the sun starts to come over the horizon. It is almost as if the plant can feel the sun is coming, because as soon as it shines that first ray each morning the flower is fully exposed. For 9 days this went on, until in those final days when the flower had wilted from all the exposure of the sun, however even in those days when the flower could only feel the warm sun on the backside of its pedals as it drooped from the life that was leaving it, it smiled and enjoyed the warmth and remembered the days when it was in full bloom, and how the bees danced and tickled him with their wings and feet as they enjoyed the pollen from such a healthy strong flower. It remembered the birds that were above and would swear they were singing to it. Even the deer that passed by the flower stood and gazed upon it and were appreciating its beauty. Then came the day the flower fell off and landed on the ground, and never felt the wind take it away and lodge it in the base of a rock.

All while this was happening, the other plant mocked the flower. The flower in its opinion was stupid. It came to full bloom and made itself much more vulnerable to all the animals of the forest that would pass by. Not only that, but look the flower is now gone, and his flower is still there. You see that plant knew if it took its time and not come to full bloom it would last longer. Never did it stretch its pedals up to the sun like the other foolish flower! No, this flower lasted for 4 days longer than the other one, yet in its final days as it was only a day or two from dropping off and falling to the ground sadness came over it. The flower never got to enjoy the sun or have the other parts of nature gaze upon it like they did the other flower, the only thing this flower could truly say is that it made it successfully from birth to death, and the following day it dropped off and blew away.
